Die Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) plant den Kauf eines Gebäudes in der Nähe des 16th St. BART für 100 Prozent erschwinglichen Wohnraum. Laut dem Artikel auf missionlocal.org hat MEDA vor, das Gebäude von der Besitzerin zu einem fairen Preis zu erwerben, um die steigenden Mieten in San Francisco zu bekämpfen.

Das Gebäude soll komplett für erschwinglichen Wohnraum genutzt werden, um Menschen mit niedrigem Einkommen zu unterstützen. MEDA hat bisher erfolgreich ähnliche Projekte in der Mission Bay durchgeführt und plant nun, diese Arbeit in anderen Teilen der Stadt fortzusetzen.

Die Bewohner in San Francisco sind zunehmend besorgt über die steigenden Mietpreise und die Verdrängung von Mietern aus ihren Wohnungen. MEDA’s Bemühungen, erschwinglichen Wohnraum zu schaffen, werden daher von vielen als willkommene Lösung angesehen.
