Houston (KHOU) – Texas ist der drittgefährlichste Staat für Autofahrer an Memorial Day, so eine Studie von ASecureLife. Die Studie analysierte Daten von 2015 bis 2019 und ergab, dass Dallas-Fort Worth an der Spitze der Liste steht, gefolgt von Austin und Houston.

Während Memorial Day normalerweise mit Grillpartys und Strandausflügen verbunden ist, warnt die Studie davor, sich in diesen Städten auf die Straße zu begeben. In Houston allein gab es in den letzten fünf Jahren 228 tödliche Autounfälle an Memorial Day.

Die Studie betont auch die Gefahr von Alkohol am Steuer an diesem Feiertagswochenende. In Texas waren mehr als 40% der tödlichen Autounfälle an Memorial Day alkoholbedingt.

Um sicher zu bleiben, empfiehlt ASecureLife den Autofahrern, nüchtern zu bleiben, Sicherheitsgurte anzulegen und vorsichtig zu fahren. Die Polizei wird während des Feiertagswochenendes verstärkt auf den Straßen unterwegs sein, um die Sicherheit der Autofahrer zu gewährleisten.
